Home Builders
More than 10,000 new homes are built through the energy right Program each year. These homes are all-electric and have heat pumps installed. Single family and multifamily homes are eligible.
Benefits for you
Home builders who offer their customers the opportunity to build under the energy right Program enjoy an array of benefits that help give them a competitive edge. Read more about benefits for builders .
How the energy right Program works
The energy right Program is offered by TVA, but local power distributors have the option to participate and to customize the program to fit their area. Contact your local distributor to verify participation and additional information on how their individual program works.
One of the best ways customers can save money on a new home is to choose one that’s energy-efficient. Since a home in the energy right Program controls heat loss and gain much better than other homes, they can look forward to year-round savings and comfort with consistent indoor air temperatures. Builders who can offer these benefits to customers have a definite advantage.

Home energy ratings
The energy right Program uses the industry-accredited Home Energy Rating System (HERS) software to rate the efficiency of new homes going through the program. Home energy ratings are similar to the fuel mileage ratings posted on new cars. Both predict efficiency based on the product's performance under standardized conditions.
